Ontario’s universities and colleges provide a wide range
of educational programs, offered full- or part-time. Some
institutions offer distance or correspondence courses.
Generally speaking, colleges provide employment-
related training in applied arts and technologies while
universities provide a general education in arts and
sciences, research opportunities as well as training in
the professions—teaching, medicine, law, engineering
and architecture, for example. Programs, admission
requirements and fees vary for each postsecondary
institution.
